I backed up my images from Picasa to a flash drive with no problem. But this morning when I tried to burn my photo folders to the DVD you gave us in class last night, I could not get the folder to copy to the DVD. Only one individual photo copied and when I tried to open it from the DVD, I could not open it with Picasa - I had to use Windows picture and fax viewer. Is this OK? It doesn’t appear that I have the ability to edit the image on the DVD with Picasa. What good does it do to backup the image if I can’t later edit it the way I might want? Thanks for any help.
Hi Christine -
A few things to consider here :
1. How did you attempt to copy/burn the folder to the DVD? I am not quite sure what is happening in Picasa as to why the folder did not copy, but I will take a look and see if I can duplicate this scenario.
2. Picasa should be able to see the contents of the DVD, but probably won’t let you edit the file until you make a local copy onto your computer.
3. Once you burn to the DVD+/-R, the file will not be editable from the DVD+/-R. You should always consider your DVD copy to be the authoritative, unalterable copy … if you want to edit it, just copy the image you’d like to edit from the DVD to your local PC hard drive and go to town. You’ll never have to have an “Ooops” moment if you do something you wish you hadn’t, since the DVD will always contain your original copy ( provided, that’s what you burned to the DVD ).
Keith - I am attempting to export my photo folders from my computer’s hard drive to the CD/DVD drive (D:). Using Picasa, I was able to export from my hard drive to the flash drive (F:) but I wanted to save also to the DVD. I tried to export to both a DVD and a CD but neither worked. I get the message “the destination directory could not be created.” Am I supposed to be using additional software beside Picasa to copy to a CD/DVD? Thanks - Christine
